Zwar immer noch nicht perfekt, aber die US BD hat nun imho das bis dato beste Bild. Ein besseres Bild werden wir wohl eine längere Zeit leider nicht mehr bekommen. Die schöneren Farben der IT BD täuschen auf den ersten Blick nur, die besseren Details liefert die US BD...in bewegten Bildern sieht sie auch besser aus als die Screenshots versprechen. Schade dass die US Disc leicht gezommt ist. (dachte zuerst es sei umgekehrt...meine Erinnerung muss mich wohl getäuscht haben)

Mich würde noch ein Vergleich mit der Blu-Ray aus Japan interessieren. Die spanische Veröffentlichung wird wohl der italienischen BD entsprechen.

I have the American BD. Seems to me like the Italian version has boosted the colours.

The image on the italian disc is clearly overprocessed with DNR, hence the waxiness and it has an even lower bitrate than the us and looks worse overall, on the other hand the us disc although more filmlike with pretty much zero digital tinkering, is far from the definitive presentation of this classic. the low bitrate causes compression artefacting and since clearly no fram by frame restoration has been made the image is dull and is lacking in definition, texture and color.

I have never seen the movie in theatres so I don't know how it looked originally, but surely it must have coveyed a richer image than this one. olive films usually transfer their films to disc in a faithful maner, without any major restoration, which by their track record usually works just fine. But in the case of "1900" further restoration and TLC is definitely needed.
