Gerade gesten gesehen. Von den drei neuen Hitchcocks is das der Beste Film, aber leider die Blu-Ray mit der schlechtesten Bildqualität. Am besten kommt Rebecca weg, Notorious ist auch noch ok.
|
Actually...disregard that.

I took another look at the BV comparison and...the difference in detail is actually pretty striking. A dated master, but really not comparable to this.

This brings to mind Blue Velvet, another MGM case of minimal improvement I just mentioned. The BD "tightens everything up" slightly, but whether due to a dated master or an exceptional DVD (pretty sure the latter), the disparity is pretty minimal. And yet like here, the BD gets everything right on the technical front. Basically a straight 1080p rendition of the master.

Ah, I see what you mean. Anyway, seems to be another case of minimal improvement where the BD itself isn't at fault, whether the reason is an exceptional DVD transfer, source limitation or combination thereof. BD itself seems exemplary - high bitrate, minimal/no manipulation

Admittedly, apart from losing compression artefacts and gaining some grain there's little improvement. From time to time though there IS more to be seen: Look at Louis Calhern's wrinkles on his forehead

Improvement in grain structure + lack of digital artifacts. But aside from that...
|
Hmm

This is an interesting one. While the grain structure clearly improves dramatically on the BD, there's scarcely a gain as far as actual effective detail goes. Does anyone know offhand the source print used for either/each? Seems like there could be a limitation on that end.
